Skipped the mid-April mux because I was just back from London and had nothing prepared! Thus, a bit of a bloated and weird mux to open May. If you're all Eh about this, go back and listen to 122 again. Might be the best mux I've put together in a year.
Boom.

Mux064: November 2010
Download or stream via drop.io.
And it may sound silly, but I dedicate this mux to the recent death of Twin Cities rapper Eyedea, who was far too young to pass. Usually my first-of-the-month muxes only have 2010 music, but I put "Smile" as the final track, off Eyedea and DJ Abilities' 2009 underrated record By The Throat. It seems fitting, given that pretty much every mix I've given to a "new" friend has had "Paradise" off E&A on it.
1. Male Bonding - Year's Not Long
2. The Walkmen - Angela Surf City
3. The Arcade Fire - Empty Room
4. Titus Andronicus - Richard II
5. Deerhunter - Fountain Stairs
6. The National - Sorrow
7. Future Islands - Swept Inside
8. The Thermals - Not Like Any Other Feeling
9. Cee-Lo - Fuck You,BPD
10. Health - Nice Girls (Little Loud Remix)
11. No Age - Chem Trails
12. Eyedea & Abilities - Smile
Making their mux debut:
Cee-Lo
Future Islands
Male Bonding

Mux061: Labor Daze / The Year of Archetype: Day 258
Download or stream off drop.io.
Mystery tracklist!
I figure all two of you that jump at my muxes have already parsed the tracks. For those who haven't, or for those who want the tracklist to determine whether or not they will listen to this hipster slag:
1. Jay-Z - 99 Problems
2. Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
3. Eyedea & Abilities - Paradise (JDK Edit)
4. Gorillaz - Dare
5. YACHT - I'm In Love With A Ripper
6. Four Tet - Twenty Three
7. The Unicorns - I Was Born (A Unicorn)
8. The Magnetic Fields - I Think I Need A New Heart
9. Jens Lekman - Friday Night At The Drive-In Bingo
10. Pink Floyd - Fearless
11. The Mountain Goats - The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton
And if you haven't figured it out already, I post muxes on the first and the fifteenth. I usually do newish music for my first-of-the-month mux, then either some oldish favorites or some sort of theme for the midmonth mux.

Yesterday's post resulted in a relative deluge of texts and Facebook messages that, in brief, threatened DEATH if I quit Archetype. I thought prefacing the post-in-question with "I'm gonna air this out" meant it was sort of a theoretical exercise, but many took it literally. As I think I've mentioned several times, abandoning Arc is a ridiculous, childish, backward move, and to all involved it'd be disrespectful, unfair, and downright mean.
In the post I wanted to give some transparency to the often-conflicting process of filmmaking, which is, as this blog posits, quite often film-aching. It would be a lie to say it's always fun and easy. I guess I was misleading when I listed all the semi-valid reasons to just give up, and for those of you who were genuinely upset at what seemed like forfeiture, I apologize.
That said, I've pinned down a fifteen-day stretch at the start of October in which I think I have a very good shot at finishing what I need to get shot while it's still autumn-y outside; maybe I could even run a few marathon days and finish the bastard. I know it all sounds fairly dubious coming from me, given at this point I'm still getting everyone's availability and, as a result, can't unequivocally say that, for example, October 18 or October 30 or November 8 will be the last day of shooting. We'll know once we get there.

JDK's 2009 in Random
I'm not one to rigidly define music into infinite sub-genres. For instance, on my 2009 "rock" list, you could parse it between "indie-folk rock" (Grizzly Bear), "noise rock" (A Place To Bury Strangers), and "garage rock" (Japandroids).
That said, here are some tracks I couldn't really decide if they fell into the camp of rock or electronic. And there's some hip-hop that, by itself, wouldn't fill out a full roster since I'm not a particular connoisseur of that fine genre.
So, download or stream off drop.io.
1. The-Dream - Walkin' on the Moon
2. Brother Ali - Crown Jewel
3. Eyedea & Abilities - Burn Fetish
4. Tortoise - Prepare Your Coffin
5. Dirty Projectors - Stillness is the Move
6. Bat For Lashes - Daniel
7. The xx - Crystalized
8. Wild Beasts - Hooting & Howling
9. Japandroids - Heart Sweats
10. Why? - This Blackest Purse
11. Bibio - Kaini Industries (Boards of Canada cover)
12. Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar (7" Edit)
Friday: my favorite songs at this point in my life (sans "1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins because somehow I forgot it). Saturday: All the albums I listened to plus my eight most favorites. Sunday: Notable albums that didn't make the top-eight cut.

Mux014: Chillin', the reissue
Pretty terrible sequencing, compared to the butter-smooth beatmatching of something like JDK Dance Party #7 (The MTV Party-To-Go of this generation), but some good songs. Just in a weird order.
Dropping like some beats.
1. TV on the Radio - Crying
2. Hot Chip - Boy From School
3. Simian Mobile Disco - Hustler
4. Eyedea & Abilities - Exhausted Love
5. David Holmes - Theme / I.M.C.
6. Crystal Castles - Vanished
7. Prefuse 73 - Gratis
8. Rjd2 - Here's What's Left
9. DJ Earworm - Reckoner Lockdown (Kanye West vs. Radiohead)
10. Cut Copy - Lights and Music
11. Justice - One Minute To Midnight
12. Aesop Rock - Daylight
