Mux086: October 2011
Comfortably awaiting a download or stream.
1. Grinderman - Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man (feat. a 21-year-old Jack Kentala) (Grinderman 2)
2. Black Lips - Katrina (Good Bad Not Evil)
3. Metric - Gold Guns Girls (Fantasies)
4. Spoon - Me and the Bean (Girls Can Tell)
5. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Timorous Me (The Tyranny of Distance)
6. The New Pornographers - Challengers (Challengers)
7. Lykke Li - Dance Dance Dance (Youth Novels)
8. EMA - Breakfast (Past Life Martyred Saints)
9. Male Bonding - Bones (Endless Now)
10. The Mountain Goats - Jenny (All Hail West Texas)
For whatever reason, I'm rediscovering that Metric's Fantasies is an amazing album. Easily one of the best bands in the Broken Social Scene family, if that makes any sense.
Not that these muxes are trade secrets, but when I'm working out the sequence, it's pretty obvious what goes where if you check my Last.fm stats. If you're that kind of weirdo.

Mux061: Labor Daze / The Year of Archetype: Day 258
Download or stream off drop.io.
Mystery tracklist!
I figure all two of you that jump at my muxes have already parsed the tracks. For those who haven't, or for those who want the tracklist to determine whether or not they will listen to this hipster slag:
1. Jay-Z - 99 Problems
2. Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
3. Eyedea & Abilities - Paradise (JDK Edit)
4. Gorillaz - Dare
5. YACHT - I'm In Love With A Ripper
6. Four Tet - Twenty Three
7. The Unicorns - I Was Born (A Unicorn)
8. The Magnetic Fields - I Think I Need A New Heart
9. Jens Lekman - Friday Night At The Drive-In Bingo
10. Pink Floyd - Fearless
11. The Mountain Goats - The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton
And if you haven't figured it out already, I post muxes on the first and the fifteenth. I usually do newish music for my first-of-the-month mux, then either some oldish favorites or some sort of theme for the midmonth mux.
* * *
Yesterday's post resulted in a relative deluge of texts and Facebook messages that, in brief, threatened DEATH if I quit Archetype. I thought prefacing the post-in-question with "I'm gonna air this out" meant it was sort of a theoretical exercise, but many took it literally. As I think I've mentioned several times, abandoning Arc is a ridiculous, childish, backward move, and to all involved it'd be disrespectful, unfair, and downright mean.
In the post I wanted to give some transparency to the often-conflicting process of filmmaking, which is, as this blog posits, quite often film-aching. It would be a lie to say it's always fun and easy. I guess I was misleading when I listed all the semi-valid reasons to just give up, and for those of you who were genuinely upset at what seemed like forfeiture, I apologize.
That said, I've pinned down a fifteen-day stretch at the start of October in which I think I have a very good shot at finishing what I need to get shot while it's still autumn-y outside; maybe I could even run a few marathon days and finish the bastard. I know it all sounds fairly dubious coming from me, given at this point I'm still getting everyone's availability and, as a result, can't unequivocally say that, for example, October 18 or October 30 or November 8 will be the last day of shooting. We'll know once we get there.

Mux038: H1N1'd
Cold symptoms plus fever and unusual aches. Might as well assume I have H1N1. I can trace a path, anyway: my mom through her hairdresser through her son. Though neither my mom nor hairdresser has been symptomatic.
So with this garbage and my all-time-high of daily tea-with-honey consumption (combined with, unsuccessfully, trying to blast the symptoms with megadoses of Special K, bananas, and V8 Fusion), I don't exactly feel like listening to the most high-octane stuff around. Thus, after the starting lineup of some GH 5 tunes (invariably), it slows down a bit.
Download it at drop.io.
